Hello, my name is Odile Faludi and I’m a Starting Customer Conversations and Cold Calling tips Specialist. Each week I have been sharing my top 10 cold calling tips in starting customer conversations. The greatest cold calling myth is that saying, “How are you?” is a great opening line. What happened the last time you picked up the phone and a complete stranger said, “How are you?” You immediately wanted to disconnect. Don’t do it! You don’t even know this person why would you be interested to know how they are? It sounds completely insincere.

Here's my cold calling tips 2:

A much more powerful way to start a conversation is to simply say, “Hello my name is Odile and I’m wondering if you could help me?” 

That way you can check that the person you want to speak to is the right person.

Also, "help" is the most powerful word in the English language. 99% of the population will help you if you ask them.
